![]() Once again at the same point, the same error. Now with those uninstalled and rebooting, I once again used the software disk. Next I uninstall the 4 pieces of Epson software which are some utilities they give you to manage the printer, including Epson event viewer, Epson DL manager Epson Scan and such. Let's look at that and see if it says anything - it's devoid of entry. I noticed that 4 pieces of Epson software have made it in, one of them is entitled, "Epson Event Viewer". Again, we go through the same path up to the error, which occurs again. Thinking that the Epson installer is correct, I re-ran the installer from the CD. Look at the installed programs and we find 4 pieces of Epson software have made it in. Then moments later, the error occurs, "Some files necessary for setup were not installed. ![]() As you can see by my screenshot, it does find the printer. ![]() The installer runs through up to the point just past printer discovery. Ran Setup.exe using right-click/run as Administrator. To get the printer to install, these are the steps I followed: Checked the Windows firewall which was duly turned off by Norton. I disabled the Norton Firewall and Real-Time Prot module. We straightened all that out with a good scrub, clean, uninstall, defrag. Prior to that the LT was plagued with 6 extra toolbars (marketing - ugh) and a bunch of messy browser issues that made life miserable. ![]() She's asked me to try to install this on the LT. Then a bit later she went out and bought this Epson XP-400 Wireless "Small in One" printer. I have a customer who bought an ASUS Win 7 Home Prem 64bit LT.
